本集課程重點包括:
一、我的老師李炳南老教授
我的老師李炳南老先生,我們弟子們都稱他雪公或雪廬老人。他是清末民初的人,三十一歲,一九二○年到莒縣當典獄長,他為莒縣辦了很多的善政,跟土匪、軍閥折衝樽俎。老人後來擔任大成至聖先師奉祀官府主任秘書,直至九十五歲才退休。老人講學《論語》抉擇古注,著重的是經文的貫串,人情世故的推理,以及從這經學當中,體會孔子他是怎麼看待事情?他是怎麼通解人情?他是怎麼進退應對?他是怎麼教學弟子?
二、《論語》的由來與內容
《論語》是孔夫子跟弟子們之間的講學,或者跟為政者的問答,可是是誰記錄的呢?漢朝劉向認為是群弟子的記錄;北宋的程子認為,除了群弟子的記錄,特別是有子跟曾子的學生,因為書中提到有若跟曾參都說有子跟曾子。
三、如何學《論語》
學《論語》當中必須要對孔子有一種情懷,想要去了解他內心的世界,想要去了解他處世的原則,並且能夠了解他做人處事的內涵,運用於現代;在日用平常裡面,你能夠用一個很高的格局,很遠的遠見來看事情,來處理你的情緒,來面對這些順逆境,相信學《論語》是很快樂的。
四、學《論語》的好處
學《論語》可以建立自己的人格,並且以「知天命」為我們學《論語》的終極目標。天命就是趨吉避凶之道,懂得為個人家庭民族找到出路,這就是學《論語》最大的價值。他不妨礙各行各業的發展,他不妨礙各領域的學問的發展,但是他在各行各業各領域當中,他建立一個無可取代的中心思想,這就是我們解《論語》的價值。

Teacher Tang Yuling will accompany you to read The Analects Preface
Highlights of this lecture include:
1. My teacher, Elder Professor Li Bingnan
My teacher, Mr. Li Bingnan, we disciples all called him Xuegong or Master Xuelu. He was born at Late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China.
In 1902, at the age of 31, Mr. Li was appointed warden of the Ju County Prison in Shandong Province. During over a decade of services in the county, he achieved good governance by cultivating moral strength and the rule of law. As the county magistrate fled by the threat from a rampaging outskirt attackers, Mr. Li held himself accountable for county people’s safety, he risked his life to negotiate with and subdued the bandits and warlords in order to protect the public from the attackers. He later served as the chief secretary of the Office of the ROC’s Sacrificial Official to Confucius, and was retired until the age of 95.
In the four-year course launched on The Analects, Master Xuelu focused on the choices between ancient notes or exegesis. In ancient exegesis, he paid attention to the verse of the scriptures and the reasoning of humanity. And from the classics, how did Confucius think and handle matters? How did he come to have a general understanding of human feelings? How did he advance and retreat, discourse and respond in accordance with different situations? How did he teach his disciples?
2. The origin and content of The Analects
The Analects is the selected sayings between Confucius and his disciples, or their questions and answers with state-rulers. But who recorded it? Liu Xiang of the Han Dynasty believed that it was a record of the disciples. Cheng-zi of the Northern Song Dynasty believed that in addition to the disciples, it was the students of You-zi and Zeng-zi who collected and jointly edited it. I “–zi,” a courted title by students to their master-teacher, was given when referring to You Ruo and Zeng Shen.
3. Learning The Analects
In the study of or learning The Analects, you must have a feeling for Confucius, want to understand his view on the spirituality of the heart, his principles, philosophy and meaning of life. In turn, we can apply for daily use in modern times. Then, ones can see and value ones future, emotions and adversities with bird’s eyes view. In doing so, we believe that learning The Analects would be a very happy experience.
4. The Benefits of Learning The Analects
By learning The Analects, we can build our personality and learn the ultimate goal of The Analects as that of Confucius. The goal is the way to avoid evil, know how to find a way out of our lives, families and nation; this is the greatest value of learning The Analects. Learning The Analects will neither hinder the development of all walks of life, the growth in various fields, nor will give a halt to the developments in scientific domains. On the contrary, The Analects has established an irreplaceable central themes and core values in all fields and industries. We shall value studying The Analects dearly.
