孔子聖蹟圖（孔子的故事）：(十八)醜次同車

衛靈公夫人南子，迷惑靈公，在衛國亂政，靈公空有好賢之名，並無好賢之實，使孔子在衛國受到羞辱，因而選擇離開。從本課程的導覽中，可以了解孔子對於當時衛國國政的感慨。

此幅醜次同車圖，乃周敬王二十六年，魯哀公元年，西元前四九四年，孔子年五十八歲。孔子自匡地脫困，經過蒲地回到衛國，有一次，衛靈公偕夫人南子同車出遊，而讓孔子陪從在後，孔子甚覺羞惡，所以曾感慨地說：我不曾見過愛好道德有像愛好美色那樣真切熱誠的人。於是孔子就離開了衛國。
畫中兩匹白馬拉著一輛華麗的馬車在前，其上坐著靈公及南子，正得意地交談著，兩旁有撐旗之甲冑護衛隨扈，好不威風。緊跟著在後的次車，所載的是孔子與弟子，健馬躍出松林。
畫家刻意經營出通往山林的盛景，靈公與夫人好不愜意，只是坐在副駕的孔子與弟子，心中不知作何感想？國人作了一首歌謠諷刺孔子，歌曰：從車者德耶？從車者色耶？意思是說，從車的人是有德的呢？還是好色的呢？聽到這種歌謠是受辱的，孔子覺得衛靈公空有好賢之名，又加上南子亂政，在衛國是有志難伸，不久便離開衛國去宋國。

18. Disgraced by riding behind the lady in question 
The painting is about Confucius was disgraced by riding behind the lady in question. In the 26th year of King Jing of Zhou Dynasty; i.e. the 1st year of Duke Ai of Lu; 494 B.C. Kong Zi was 58 years old. Confucius passed the danger caused by the people of Guang and was back to Wei from the land of Pu. One day, Duke Ling of Wei was riding a carriage with his Lady Nan-zi, and asked Confucius to follow in a second carriage. Confucius, regarding this as a disgrace, and sighed: “I’ve never seen people who love virtues as much as their love for beauty.” Confucius then left Wei. There are two white horses riding a splendidly decorated carriage. The passengers are Duke Ling and his Lady Nan-zi who are happily exchanging conversations. Two horse guards escorted carried the regiment color of Duke Wei riding on the two sides of the carriage. Confucius and his disciples are in the second carriage. Horses full of strength galloping through the pines wood have created a wonderful scenery for the setting for the noble couples to enjoy and celebrate. This contrasts the feelings of Confucius and his disciple who were sitting in the second carriage. A song had been sung by the people of Wei to mock Confucius. The lyric stated: “Passenger of the second carriage is virtuous? Passenger of the second carriage is beauty lover?” That’s meant people of Wei questioned the personality of the passenger of the second carriage. They wondered about Confucius’s integrity. Is he a virtuous man or a beauty lover. Confucius felt sorry about the song and for Duke Ling who was a hypocrite-lover of virtuous talents and Lady Nan-zi’s irregular influences on state affairs. Confucius then left Wei. 

18.醜次同車図
この醜次同車図は即ち周敬王二十六年、魯哀公元年、紀元前四九四年、孔子五十八歳の時です。孔子は匡地の困難を逃れ、蒲地を経由して衛国に帰って来ました。ある時、衛霊公は夫人の南子と同車で郊外に遊びに行き、孔子にその後について供をさせました。孔子はこれにひどい恥辱を覚え、感慨深く「私はこれまで道徳を愛することに、まるで美色を愛するように実に情熱的な人を見たことがない」と言って、衛国を出て行きました。
絵の中では二頭の白馬が華麗な馬車を引いています。その上に座っているのが霊公と南子で、満足そうに話しこんでいます。両側には旗を持った甲冑の護衛が付き、威風堂々としています。その後ろにしたがっている、二台目に乗っているのが孔子と弟子で、健馬が松林から躍り出ています。
画家は故意に山林に向かう情景で、霊公と夫人を何とも気持ちがよさそうに描いています。しかし、副駕に座っている孔子と弟子は、心中どんなことを思っていたでしょうか？衛国の人が歌謡を作って、孔子を風刺しました。「従車者徳耶？従車者色耶？」で意味は、「車に従う人に徳があるのか？それとも色好みなのか？」です。こんな歌謡を聴いて辱められた孔子は、霊公には賢人の名がふさわしくない、加えて南子は政治を乱しているため、衛国では志があっても発展できないと感じ、しばらくして衛国を離れ、宋国へ行きました。
